Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is Down Syndrome awareness month a chance to spread awareness. During this period, we celebrate people with Down syndrome and make people aware of their abilities and accomplishments. It's not about celebrating disabilities, it's about celebrating their abilities.

On Wednesday morning Cruise on premier FM 93.5 Ibadan our guests on the programme were Dr Nwankwo, Mrs Awusah and Mrs Folorunso who all have children with down syndrome. They talked about the achievements of these children and how much joy they bring to their families.

Do you have anyone who has a child with down syndrome, who probably is locking the child up and keeping him or her from being seen by other people out of shame? Please let them know they are special and need special attention.

They are not to be ashamed of, they should not be locked indoors as this deteriorates the child. They can be great if they are giving opportunity to live well. They are gifts from God. Celebrate them, show them love and together the world will be a better place to live in.
